NEGATIVE HUMAN INFLUENCES ON RAIN FORESTS
Rainforest's cover 14% of the Earth but now there is only 6% of them left. This is mainly because of deforestation. Wood is the most valuable asset to people. This is why people use it in such a hoarding matter. Deforestation has become a huge problem. There are many negative social and environmental impacts to the rainforest because of humans. Humans deforest for more living space as well as building houses and furniture. Human’s negative impact upon the rain forests includes; climate change, extinction, habitat loss, soil erosion, pollution and social impacts. Climate change causes the rain forests to become hot and dry making it hard for the indigenous species to survive. Extinction is very harmful 50,000 species are lost each year due to deforestation. Habitat loss is a main contributor to the decline of rain forest biomes because; animals are losing their homes. In addition to this, soil erosion hurts the rain forests because water washes away nutrients after plants are removed. Deforestation also affects human. Many tribes of people live in the forests and use the plants for medicine. However, deforestation is taking away these necessities of the people.
POSITIVE HUMAN IMPACTS ON THE RAIN FORESTS
Us as humans have began to change our ways and help re grow ecosystems such as rain forests. For example recycling has helped reduce the landfills and lower the use of resources. We could also help save the rain forests by using less water. It is not okay for us to treat our earth like this. It is our job to fix what we have started. The world will lose its natural pharmacy if we destroy our rainforests. 3,000 plants on earth are used to fight cancer cells and 70 % of those plants are in the rainforest. 25% of ingredients in today’s cancer fighting medicine are from the rainforest. If our rain forests are gone there will be no way that we can survive ourselves. Some conservation efforts have already been created to help save the rain forests. For example World Wildlife Fund. WWF is an organization, which focuses on the conservation of the rain forest. This organization allows people to donate money to save an acre of the rain forest.
